Multimedia Technology on the Internet enables new forms of cooperation.
Teams of researchers can operate across boundaries, know-how is transfered
between industry and academia, and teaching is done in new ways, e.g.
in the interdisciplinary area of Biocomputing. We develop these new
paradigms even further, in the form of a "Study Project Agency".
This virtual agency mediates real projects between qualified Bielefeld students,
and researchers ("customers") who have a problem at hand which
they think can be solved by an undergraduate within a few months.
The topics are mainly in the area of biological sequence analysis.
The Agency establishes contacts between interested
"customers" and students, evaluates the scientific relevance
and complexity of the proposed projects, secures the compatibity of the project
and the goals of the Bielefeld "Computer Science in the Natural
Sciences" program, offers assistance during the project, and tries
to ensure its successful completion.
