      I also need a better understanding of the theoretical background behind some of the techniques mentioned above.
      I am especially interested in using WWW resources efficiently.

    Hypertext documents, accessible via Internet, e.g. with Netscape
    Hypertext documents on CD ROM, for local installation
    Course material on paper

    Multimedia enhancements (e.g. animations) within the documents would be very important.
